Zero to 60 is probably the most realistic, everyday performance benchmark, but there’s no better ultimate ranking factor than top speed – the most no holds barred, balls-to-the-wall stat a supercar can have. It takes lots of engineering genius to move so quickly down a strip of pavement without falling apart.
Here is a list of the 10 fastest production cars in the world ranked by top speed. All the cars you would expect are here, ranked from fastest to slowest (though calling any of these slow is blasphemy.) And to clarify, yes, all of these cars are street-legal.

1.SSC Tuatara

The SSC Tuatara is a sports car designed, developed and manufactured by American automobile manufacturer SSC North America (formerly Shelby SuperCars Inc.). The car is the successor to the Ultimate Aero and is the result of a design collaboration between Jason Castriota and SSC.
the SSC Tuatara managed to claim the title of the world’s fastest production vehicle by clocking an average run of 316.11 mph (508.73 kph), also claiming the title for the first production car to break the 500 kph barrier. But that record wasn’t official, apparently, so they went back and did another run in January 2021, this time officially grabbing the record at 282.9 mph.

The SSC Tuatara is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.9-liter V8 producing 1,350 horsepower using 91 octane gas and 1,750 horses if you slip in some E85 juice.

TOP SPEED- 295.0mph(474.8 km/h)
PRICE- $1.3 million to 1.9 million
ENGINE- Twin-turbo charged 5.4 liter flat plane crack V8 (1,750 horse-power)

2. Koenigsegg Agera RS

The Koenigsegg Agera is a mid-engine sports car produced by Swedish car manufacturer Koenigsegg. It is a successor to the CCX/CCXR. The name comes from the Swedish verb 'agera' which means "to act" or in imperative form "(You) act!".

It was named Hyper-car of the Year in 2010 by Top Gear magazine. The Agera RS variant became the world's fastest production car in 2017, setting a record with a GPS-verified two-way average top speed of 447 km/h (278 mph) and a fastest straight-line speed of 458 km/h (285 mph)

TOP SPEED- 278 mph
PRICE-$5-7 million
ENGINE-5.0 liter V8 (1,341 horse power)

3. Hennessy Venom GT

The Hennessey Venom GT is a high performance sports car manufactured by US manufacturer Hennessey Performance Engineering. The Venom GT is based on the Lotus Elise/Exige. The Venom GT set a Guinness World Record for the fastest road legal car from 0–186 mph (0–300 km/h) with an average acceleration time of 13.63 seconds. In addition, the car set an unofficial record for 0–200 mph (0–322 km/h) acceleration at 14.51 seconds, beating the Koenigsegg Agera R's time of 17.68 seconds, making it the unofficial fastest accelerating road legal car in the world.

TOP SPEED- 265.6 mph
PRICE- $ 3 million
ENGINE- LS7 V8 (1,451 horse power)

4. Bugatti Chiron

This $2.5 million work of art is capable of pummeling the pavement at over 200 mph thanks to a 16-cylinder engine that features four turbochargers and cranks out at least 1500 horsepower—the more expensive Super Sport model is even more powerful. The Chiron's cabin is just as artfully designed as its exterior, and it coddles occupants in fine materials that help justify its price tag. But let's be honest, people are really paying for the performance here. Those looking for modern conveniences (think Apple CarPlay) or driver-assistance tech, they won't find them here, but after driving this monster, they likely won't care about such minor drawbacks.

TOP SPEED- 263 mph
PRICE- $2.5 million
ENGINE- 1,479 horse power

5.Bugatti Veyron Super Sport

The Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 is a mid-engine sports car, designed and developed in Germany by the Volkswagen Group and Bugatti and manufactured in Molsheim, France, by French automobile manufacturer Bugatti. It was named after the racing driver Pierre Veyron.

The original version has a top speed of 407 km/h (253 mph).[6][7] It was named the 2000s Car of the Decade by the BBC television programme Top Gear. The standard Veyron also won Top Gear's Best Car Driven All Year award in 2005.

TOP SPEED- 267.856  mph
PRICE- $1.9 million
ENGINE- 8 liters with quad turbo-chargers (987 horse-power)
